US media suggested that President Joe Biden will announce in the middle of next week his intention to run for the presidency next year, in an effort to obtain a second term, paving the way for a possible recurrence of the confrontation with former President Donald Trump.

Yesterday (Thursday), the “Washington Post” and “The New York Times” newspapers quoted Biden aides as saying that the announcement may take place via video next Tuesday, although they indicated that the announcement could also be postponed.

The New York Times reported that Biden had invited campaign donors to come to Washington at the end of next week, in another indication of the intensification of campaign plans.

It is reported that if Biden wins the presidential race, his age will have reached 82 years at the beginning of the second term. There are reservations within the Democratic camp about whether Biden is the best candidate for the party, as he will then be 81 years old.

Former US President Donald Trump, 76, launched last November his campaign to return to the White House in 2024, although he faces several civil and criminal legal cases before the court.
