“Okaz” learned that the Criminal Court in Buraidah issued a sentence of imprisonment of 8 months and a fine of 30,000 riyals against an academic who appeared in a video clip circulated by users of the social networking site “Snapchat”, in which she insulted the people of Buraidah, describing them with “racist” terms.
The ruling, which was issued yesterday, included the closure of her account on the aforementioned site. The case dates back to December 2019, when a woman in her fifties posted a video clip insulting the people of Buraidah. The competent authorities arrested her, investigated the case, and referred her to the judiciary.
It is noteworthy that Al-Madanah holds a doctorate, works in an educational institution in the Qassim region, and is considered one of the first women in the region to replace the international driving license with Saudi Arabia.
