Scott Ford Death – Dead, Obituary, Funeral, Cause Of Death, Passed Away:
We lost a good friend in a tragic accident over New Years Eve. Kansas City lost a strong advocate for songwriters/acoustic showcase music. Scott Ford, a local guy of some celebrity status in his own right. An all around good guy that was likeable, and trustworthy. He was an accomplished musician with a decent following from KC areas all the way to Texas. I worked a project with him for a couple of years and was proud to have called him a friend. Besides his original music he introduced me to Red Dirt/Outlaw music, and a lot of tunes I wouldn’t have heard otherwise.
Amongst other things Scott was once a rodeo clown, one of the guys that would save the cowboys from getting trampled by a pissed off bull. He had a law enforcement career with the county sheriff department, he was the county version of Dog The Bounty Hunter, he would travel over states to bring back those that had skipped bail or otherwise wanted.
A few years ago I had opportunity to work a regular project with Scott, 5 or 6 ++ hours a week for a couple of years. I’ve spent literally hundreds of hours running and editting video and listening to his and others music in an acoustic jam setting. He introduced to me to a lot of music that I wouldnt have known otherwise. We didnt have the best lighting for video and I could rarely get an audio patch . But we did the best we could with what we had, as he would often say .
I’ve kept meaning to get out to his recent gigs and setup for video as he has been playing all around my area. Pandemic and work have made it difficult. I’ve continued to follow him and his podcasts. I’m sorry that I didn’t get out.
One artist he introduced me to was Townes Van Zandt. Going through and listening to clips of the project today I found Scotts cover of Seventeen that introduced me to the work of Townes Van Zandt.
Our association extended beyond this project, I came to know Scott as a man that was good to his word and a man that could be trusted. I’m not one to like or trust too many people , Scott was a guy I’m proud to have called a friend. I , like many others will miss him.
