Personal excellence-the first step in the process of nation building.

National development is a thing meant for great minds alone. Its’ not for small minds,

 ?why,

A small mind does not think beyond his nose hence “others” are not important in his agenda.

“ME MYSELF AND I” is his inner philosophy and core slogan. Hence being Sucexful to this type is not more than working in a big company, Earning big, Having all the vanity his mind can conceive, Sleeping with as many women as possible, or any other personal goal.

However leaders understand the role their lives play in the scheme of societal development. Hence they ennoble their minds through a career with value added to national life.

They try to achieve a sacred kind of Sucex where their lives paly vital role to the society and to a wider world. This does not mean he will vow to be poor or lack his basic material need. The difference here is that the desire for material need is not the driving force behind effort to succeed rather it is seen as a by-product of sucex.

commitment to personal excellence involves

1

A deeper understanding of ones true reason for existence. We all have a fundamental reason why we are born, this reason transcends the mundane pleasures of life. This reason once discovered can become a great source of empowerment or enthusiasm.

2- Commitment to excellence in the field of a career inline with that reason for existence. Our career, then, becomes a source of selfless service to humanity, it becomes a way to better life of society. One thing to note here is that the greatest and most financially sucexful companies in the world first set out to solve a problem in society hence satisfactory service was crucial in the delivery of their service to the public. Secondly sucex cannot be gauged  by material acquisition. Some of the worlds most sucexful people did not have the best of amenities of their time. Christ was born in a sheep parlor, mother Theresa did not have all the money she needed, Ghandi was not a very rich person, Buddha was born into a golden spoon royalty but left to pursue a spiritual life (note that i use this because they are religious figure well known over the world, there are many non religious people as well).

Even John D Rockefeller did not see his wealth as the aim of life and this empowered him to leave an educational heritage which other wealthy people like him didn’t dare to think about.

3- Doing what we do with a renewed zeal from the lessons we learn about the career as we move on. Every great career had its challenges especially in the beginning. In the history of organisations, the only ones who saw little challenges are those who inherited the company/organisation. For those who started out, they face manifold challenges but kept doing their best and today the world is a better place because they lived.

Steve Jobs started Apple and today, the company is worth more than the economy of some nations.

Today apple is worth 758 billion dollar while the Nigerian economy is worth 564 billion so what are we saying….just one company in many, lets remember apple has not maintained a 10 year straight number 1 on Americas richest company list or the fortune 500 list. What this means is that there are several other companies even richer than Apple. Now the interesting thing is that these companies were built by individuals. ?what am i trying to say…..if you work hard smartly you will build a greater company. Apple has over 92,000 employers directly and a   lot more indirect employers such as those who sale or repair Apple electronics. Each person has an inner core of strength which when maximized is indispensable to national development.

We can build a better Nigeria if we try. If other nations saw worse than us and pulled through then we can too.
