. Rest in Peace, Maiesha Rashad. When I first saw her at Bailey’s in Silver Spring I had no idea that was go-go. It was just funky and soulful a great party.


Saddened to hear about the passing of the ‘First lady of go-go’ Maiesha Rashad, a leading figure in DC’s go-go scene. I had the opportunity to get to know her while we both worked at NPR


Our First Lady of GoGo, Maiesha Rashad, has joined the angels in heaven to rest easy.

BREAKING NEWS: LOCAL CELEBRITY DEATH: Maiesha Rashad Passed Away today. She was known on stage as the First Lady of GoGo, she had her own band called Maiesha and the Hip Huggers. She had a 5 month battle with stomach cancer. May She Rest In Peace.


DC has lost it’s First Lady of Go-Go. Maiesha Rashad died last night from stomach cancer.

I’m sad to share this with you guys, but #MaieshaRashad the #FirstLadyofGogo lost her battle to stomach cancer tonight. A few months ago when she was diagnosed I sat down with her family & friends to talk about Mai’s incredible legacy.
