Although I knew this would be coming soon, it was still sad to read this morning that my friend Dick Buerkle died. (Me, Kyle Heffner, Tony Sandoval & Dick Buerkle together at the 2008 reunion of the 1980 Olympic Track & Field Team).

Rest In Peace: Dick Buerkle, who at one time held the world indoor track and field record for the mile and twice qualified for the United States Olympic team, died Monday morning. He was 72. He was coached by the famous Jumbo Elliot while at Villanova.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.
