Sister Thomas Welder was a longtime president of University of Mary, she died  of kidney cancer on June 22 at the age of 80.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

So sad to hear about the passing of Sister Thomas Welder. So many fond memories of her. The impact she has made on this campus and in this region is hard to quantify. At a loss for words. She will be dearly missed.


Sad day for Umary! Guaranteed she remembers your name and where you came from. I recall, every Sunday after Church she would invite students to enjoy soup and bread. I enjoyed the great talks we had! Great lady, RIP Sister Thomas Welder you’ll be missed!

Former University of Mary President Sister Thomas Welder has passed away at her Annunciation Monastery home, following a recent diagnosis of kidney cancer.
