On Tuesday morning Edie Mayhew peacefully passed away in the arms of her loving wife, Anne Tudor.
Edie and Anne are where the Bigger Hearts Dementia Alliance Ballarat began, with courage and determination to make the world a better place for people living with dementia. We promise to never let that dream fade until it’s a reality, and even then you will still be hearing the name Edie Mayhew.
Edie spoke openly about her experience of dementia at conferences around Australia and internationally, which created a platform for heartfelt and meaningful conversations to give dementia awareness a new meaning.
Ballarat is so thankful to have had Edie’s strength and Anne’s motivation to change the way people are living with dementia. The LGBTIQ+ community have been endlessly thankful to have their advocacy and we personally feel very thankful to them both for all they have done for us.
Anne and Edie had a love that some people only dream of, and they got to embrace that everyday for 36 years. ✨
