Tributes To Donald Cameron

Across social media users’ timelines are statements that show respect, admiration, and gratitude towards Cameron as people mourn the passing.

I’ve just learned this morning that Donald Cameron has passed away.

As a long time MLA for Pictou East and Nova Scotia’s 22nd Premier, Donald Cameron spent his life working to make our community and our province a better place.
I had the fortune of getting to know Donald over the past few years and was always impressed by his kindness and willingness to share lessons from his many years of experience in politics.
My thoughts are with his family today.
May he rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of Nova Scotia’s 22nd Premier, Donald Cameron. Cameron was dedicated to public service & served in the legislature for 19 years. He will be remembered for his integrity & commitment to human rights. I extend my condolences to his family.

I am heartbroken by the death of Donald Cameron. He loved Nova Scotia and during his time in public and private life, Donnie was a man of incredible integrity.

He was Nova Scotia’s 22nd premier and on the first day he sat in the Legislature as Premier, his government introduced Human Rights legislation, which included equal rights for gays and lesbians, making Nova Scotia one of the first places in North America to do so.
Donnie represented Pictou East, as I do now, and he was a mentor to me in many ways. But more than that, he was a treasured friend.
On behalf of the PC Caucus, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his beautiful children, extended family and many friends.
The Cameron family asks for privacy at this difficult time.

“Saddened this morning to learn of the death of my one time boss, Former Premier Donald Cameron. He was younger than I am. He had a rough two years as Premier, primarily due to events beyond his control.

My only recent contact with him were his recommendation of two great pieces of music for my radio programs: Highland Cathedral by andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra and Holy Mother by Eric Clapton and Luciano Pavorotti. I’ll be playing them both this Su day in his memory.”
