Following illness we are sad to announce that Rev. Dr. Joel Edwards has passed away, our prayers are with his wife Carol and the family at this time. We as AoG GB were made so much richer for Joel being a part of our fellowship. We salute today a life lived for The Lord.
This news has made me feel very very sad. We worked together for a short period when Joel was director of Mical Challenge International, and over the years I’ve felt quite impacted by his kindness and wisdom. Only a few months back I had a long conversation with him and he was again such an encouragement to me as I felt quite disheartened by things going on in my life. I just heard the sad news that my mentor and friend Joel Edwards passed away today. He had been battling aggressive cancer for some time. Please join me in giving thanks for his life and witness, and please pray for his family. I worked with Joel and the wonderful Micah Challenge team on the ‘EXPOSED2013 – Shine a light on corruption’ project from 2011-2013. Joel was central to the 10.10.10, Jubilee 2000 and Drop the Debt campaigns, a campaigner for justice and a true ecumenical leader. Rest In Peace and Rise in Power Joel!
I am so very sorry to hear this. Joel Edwards was an advisor to the FCG social cohesion report and I was always so grateful for his insight, clarity, and kindness on that project; sometimes it’s just clear you’re in the presence of a v special person. Praying for his loved ones.
