There are only about 3,000 horses in Jeddah, and many times that number in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, but it does not have a medical center specialized in horse diseases, and horse owners are still in dire need of a medical center, as young horse lovers agreed that the lack of a medical center specialized in Jeddah in particular, and in the entire region in general, is a major problem for them.
Salman Al-Hwaiti, a horse breeder, says that his horse fell and became blind, and due to the lack of a specialized medical center in the region, he had to write to one of the specialized centers in Dubai, send samples to them, and he was answered and provided with a prescription, and he was treated within a year.
The knight, Hamad Al-Rabi, also tells of his suffering in the lack of specialized centers, as he is sometimes forced to buy medicines from specialized pharmacies for humans to treat his horses, noting that some medicines are of very high concentration and are only allowed to be obtained by prescription, and he had to convince the pharmacist that this medicine for a horse I own.
For his part, the veterinarian who specializes in production says that he receives many requests from young horse owners, as in the past horses were treated through experience and expertise, but today horse breeders have become more aware, and given the exorbitant sums that are paid to own horses, they will not risk it. and submit it for testing. There are two directions for treating horses; The first is satisfactory and the other is productive. With regard to production, I give the horses appropriate vaccinations and provide them with their needs. As for the sick, I cannot treat all diseases. There are some diseases that require surgical operations, such as colic, for example, and due to the lack of a specialized center in Jeddah or in the Makkah region or the southern region The owner of the horse is forced to send it to the only specialized center in Riyadh, and the process of transporting the horse to Riyadh is a very expensive process, in addition to the fact that some horses died before reaching the center, and the loss is very great in both its psychological and material aspects.
