Payton Jones Car Accident Mansfield Ohio

Payton Jones Obituary – Death: Payton Jones, 18, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash at Ohio 61 on County Road 15.

“A dear friend of mine and a member of the Miss Ohio’s Outstanding Teen family passed away in a car accident last night. Please send all of your love and prayers to her friends and family during this time. Payton Jones, sweet girl, you are so loved.”

Brad Gerwig, 52, of Sunbury, was reportedly driving a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck heading south on Ohio 61, while Jones was driving a 2009 Ford Focus heading east on County Road 15. Jones’ vehicle did not yielded a stop sign, entered the intersection, and was struck by Gerwig’s vehicle.

Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gerwig was not injured.

“With great sadness we share the sudden heavenly graduation of Payton Jones. Her amazing life was ended abruptly yesterday in a tragic car accident.

While the fruit of her life continues, thank you for grieving with the family, and interceding with them for grace and mercy from our Loving Heavenly Father.”

“My roommate Payton Jones went home to Jesus yesterday evening. It’s still a huge shock to everyone. My heart goes out to this lovely women of God’s family and friends. She was a beautiful light to everyone she touched.

I’m so glad I got to know her even through a short period of time. The night before she passed away we laughed so much to the point of tears and stayed up really late just talking. It was the best night I had at college so far and it was because of her. Little did I know that the next day there would be more tears and a late night for all of SEU OH and for her family/friends.

Right now, there are so many questions for all of us. But I know she would agree with me when I say “We can trust God and find comfort in His arms” and “We can put all our emotions (anger, heartbreak, and confusion) on God because He can take it.”
She was going to sing Christ Be Magnified this coming week for chapel. I hope she knows that her whole life magnified Christ. I’m so glad she gets to do the same up in heaven.

If anyone needs a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen, I’m here for you, truly.

I’m praying for everyone who knew her. If you would like to join me in prayer, it would be greatly appreciated.”
