It is with the deepest sadness that we inform you of the passing of our President, Garrett Presnell. He went home to Heaven this morning and reunited with his earthly father, Charles Presnell, the inspiration for his dedicated service in the fire and rescue community. Garrett displayed honor, valor, and pride in his work throughout his years of service to our community. He lived a life of dedication to his family and community. His leadership and caring heart will be greatly missed. Garrett passionately advocated to bring the best of resources and education to McDowell County fire departments, and we will be forever grateful. Garrett was a Firefighter for Black Mountain Fire Department and worked part-time at North Cove, Pleasant Gardens, and Old Fort Fire Departments. He was a member of the Buncombe County Task Force 2 USAR Team, taking part in the rescue efforts put forth after Tropical Storm Fred. Garrett took great pride in being a volunteer for Sugar Hill-Montfort Cove Fire Department, serving as a Lieutenant. Whether he was on or off the clock, Garrett brought the same level of excellence and care to those he served. Please pray for his wife, Kelsey, and their unborn daughter, Kora, along with his brother, Corey, and mother, Sherie, and the entire Presnell family.
