We’re saddened to hear of the passing of Donnie Kropinsky, AKA ‘The Polish Hulk’, our first team member at 232 Creative. For one hour every Friday for 6-8 months in 2016-17, Donnie would visit our office in East Liberty to help us with some general tasks around the office (and let’s face it, it was probably 10 minutes of work and 50 minutes of conversations and laughs) as part of a workforce initiative with Pittsburgh Mercy. While the program was designed to provide work experience for Donnie, in reality, he brought more to our office than what we provided him. As the door closed behind him after each of his shifts, without fail our spirits were higher and our perspectives on life were better aligned. We’ll remember his ‘gift of gab’, big laugh, fistbumps, lack of a filter, love for all things Pittsburgh sports, telling us about his scratch off ticket winnings, and playfully giving us — and his job coaches — all a hard time (as we did to him as well). Donnie was truly one of a kind. He had a big heart and was a good dude who happened to face hardship and adversity throughout his life. We admired his perseverance to get over those hurdles. We hope that he’s at peace. We’ll miss ya Donnie!
