“Saudi women” to talk about her experience as the first woman to be appointed to this position, and the following meeting took place:
* How does Dr. Janan Al-Omran define herself?
** I am honored to be one of the women of this country, who was born and raised on its land, raised from its goodness, educated in its schools and graduated from one of its universities, where I graduated from King Saud University, College of Pharmacy and worked as a “clinical pharmacist”, specializing in psychiatric and narcotic drugs and worked for eight years in the first clinic A specialized clinical psychiatrist at the Kingdom level at Al-Amal Hospital for Mental Health and Addiction, and then I conducted a research study with the Johns Hopkins Hospital for Mental and Psychiatric Diseases in the United States of America. After working in the clinical field, which lasted for twelve years, I started my journey with administrative work and planning in the field of supply and logistics services, and in the light of that I was keen and able to obtain many diplomas and specialized courses in the field of strategic planning, medical supply, logistical services, participation and attendance in Many national and international conferences and forums dealing with the field of planning, supply and logistical services, and I participated in a research study published in an international journal on malpractice and the protocol for dispensing narcotic drugs to health practitioners in the primary clinics of the armed forces in various regions of the Kingdom, so I was appointed as a director of planning and head of the Office of Coordination and Supply of Missions Military and national activities of the armed forces at Prince Sultan Military Medical City as the first woman to hold this position, and this continued for six years, and accordingly I was honored by the Director General of Medical Services of the Armed Forces, and finally the decision of the Executive General Director of Prince Sultan Military Medical City was issued to appoint me as Director of the Medical Supply and Services Department Logistics.
* How did those around you react when you were appointed as Director of Supply and Logistics?
** I received congratulations, blessings, and invitations for success and assistance from relatives, friends, and colleagues with this appointment, since this position is filled for the first time by a Saudi woman. Healthy people who receive attention and care from the leadership of this good country, may God protect them.
* How can the military medical sector provide more community service?
** There is no doubt that the health sector is one of the most important sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is concerned with the health of the citizen in accordance with the highest standards of care and medical services, according to the directives and unlimited support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense May God protect and preserve them, and there is certainly an effective role for Saudi women in this important sector.
* Did you face difficulties at the beginning of your leadership career?
** I did not face, praise be to God, any difficulties. Rather, I received support from the senior management of Prince Sultan Military Medical City, headed by Major General Saud bin Othman Al-Shalash, as well as from my direct management and all colleagues in the city.
* Do you think that women in our society find a kind of resistance as leaders, and how would you describe your experience?
** Perhaps that was earlier, but Saudi women today receive great support under the guidance of our wise leadership, may God protect them, which worked to provide and overcome all difficulties facing Saudi women, and focused on giving women a large share of empowerment and fairness to enhance their role at all levels, especially leadership positions In all fields, especially the health sector, the women of the country have proven their worth and have been the subject of the trust that was bestowed upon them, praise be to God.
* What is the percentage of Saudi women's representation in the military health sector, and is there a turnout of women for this sector?
** I do not have accurate statistics, but Saudi women have an effective presence and are present in a large and noticeable manner in recent times in the military health sector, which is no different from other health sectors, except that most of the health practitioners in it are military personnel and specialize in providing health care and services to employees of the military sector in the Ministry of Defense And their families, and of course it is a health sector that works within the system of other health sectors, and there is high health coordination between it and the Ministry of Health, and therefore it is part of the state sectors that work according to the plans of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which encourages the full participation of women in the labor market, developing their talents, investing their energies and enabling them to obtain Appropriate opportunities to build their future and contribute to the development of their society and the economy of their country.
* What is your next step, and where do you find yourself five years from now?
** My steps are always according to strategies that I work to draw for any work, whether it is at the self-level or work assigned to it, and these strategies are specific goals and guarantee sustainability and are subject to updating so that they are in line with any positive development that serves aspirations, and thus, after a period of five years, I have reached what we aspire to successfully and with the best expected results.
* A message you would like to reach the readers?
** We thank God Almighty for providing us in this country with a leadership that works hard to put our country in the ranks of developed countries in various fields, and realizes that the country’s young men and women are the real wealth that many countries do not possess, and therefore our wise leadership supports work to develop the skills of the country’s sons and daughters and empower them to achieve aspirations And my message first is to the Saudi woman, who today receives all the support and empowerment, and is given the full opportunity to prove her worth, and she has proven that, praise be to God, but we want more from them, and this is a great opportunity for them today to achieve successes that will certainly be the successes of the homeland, and to be an example to follow in the Arab world and even in The whole world and nothing is impossible for any Saudi man or woman, and therefore I send a message to everyone that we work with all effort, sincerity and dedication to serve the soil of this country, and we strive for the success of the plans of our wise leadership and the completion of the march to achieve the vision of our dear kingdom, and today we feel proud of what has been achieved over the years The past few achievements and we will continue to reach our ambition sky high.
