The Al-Qassar Heritage Village in Farasan Governorate is witnessing a large number of visitors and tourists these days due to the mild weather there and to spend the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

Numbers of visitors and tourists flock to the village at such times every year to get acquainted with the tourist attractions and ancient heritage it contains.

Village history

The tour guide in Fursan Othman Hamaq confirmed that the village receives great attention from the service authorities, and there are several sections in it, including the popular session, the traditional café, and some archaeological monuments. The village includes about 400 houses built of stones and palm fronds, dating back, according to historians, to the Roman era, in addition to writings and drawings, some of which date back to the Himyarite era.

The residents of Farasan used to celebrate wedding occasions, which were postponed for a year until the season of departure from Farasan Island in the summer to the village of Al-Qassar, in what was known as the “distress” season, to escape from the intense heat, when water, palm fruits and their shades were available.

While many visitors to the village called on the relevant authorities to provide restaurants and hold seasonal events, especially on official holidays and feasts, to enjoy the heritage of the Knights.
