Saudi Aramco and its partners, Norinco Group and Panjin Industrial Group, intend to start construction work on a huge integrated refinery and petrochemical complex in northeastern China.
And Aramco announced in a statement yesterday (Sunday) that Aramco Huajin Petrochemical Company, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco 30%, Norinco Group 51%, and Panjin Industrial Group 19%, is working on developing the Greenfield Complex project, which will include a refinery with energy capacity. A productivity of 300,000 barrels per day, and a petrochemical plant with an annual production capacity of 1.65 million metric tons of ethylene and two million metric tons of paraxylene.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2023, after the project has obtained the required administrative approvals, and is expected to be fully operational by 2026, according to the statement.
Saudi Aramco will supply up to 210,000 barrels per day of crude oil feedstock to the complex, which will be built in Panjin, Liaoning Province, China.
