The Saudi Anti-Doping Committee issued a statement stating that the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had reached a settlement agreement, effective from its date, on 2/3/2023, between it and the team charged with defending the player Fahd Al-Mawlid, and the Saudi Anti-Doping Committee approved it. According to which, the penalty imposed by the Saudi Anti-Doping Committee at the beginning of the case is approved, which is to suspend Al-Mawlid from sports participation, internally and externally, for a period of 18 months, so that the suspension period ends on 8/20/2023.
Under this settlement, WADA withdrew the appeal submitted by it to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport, provided that the player bears any financial costs or fees due to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Saudi Anti-Doping Committee said in its statement that Al-Mawlid “violated the doping control regulations, and signed on 21/2/2022, after attending a fair hearing session and hearing his statements and the defense team, and after deliberating the case, the committee then issued its decision to suspend the player from sports participation internally and externally.” For a period of 18 months, then Al-Mawlid appealed the suspension decision with the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center on 7/18/2022, and the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center issued its decision on 8/25/2022 reducing the period of his suspension to become only two months for the violation in the subject of the dispute, which necessitated the agency’s intervention. The International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the decision of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 10/13/2022.
Private sources told Okaz that the international Fahd Al-Muwallad will participate in an external rehabilitation program in a European country until he joins his colleagues in the youth team camp next summer.
The sources confirmed that Al-Mawlid will not receive any salaries until the end of the suspension period on August 20, in agreement with the youth club management.
