The culture of walking and its importance contributed to maintaining the health of the body and protection from exposure to health crises, and the increase in the number of practitioners of this sport, especially during the days of the holy month, due to its positive repercussions on physical and psychological health, and its many health benefits on the body.

The walkways in Jeddah governorate witness a great demand from citizens and residents to practice walking, especially during the hours before and after breakfast, and to take advantage of the fitness and exercise equipment available in a number of walkways in the governorate, which promote public health and improve the life of the individual.

The Jeddah Municipality pays special attention to equipping and preparing sites that witness the influx of many walkers from various groups of society during the blessed month of Ramadan, as their number exceeds 23 walkways, in the various districts of the governorate. Marine due to its proximity to the sea, as the marine climate helps increase the desire to practice walking.

These walkways are distributed in the various districts of the governorate, the most prominent of which are: “Jeddah Waterfront Walk” on the Corniche Road, which is 4,500 meters long and 10 meters wide. It is 3,000 meters long and 10 meters wide, and includes sessions and areas for children’s games. The “Al-Yamama Walk” in Al-Salama neighborhood is 1,800 meters long and 25 meters wide, and includes sports equipment, sessions, and a games area.

The Beach neighborhood also includes three walkways: “Prince Faisal bin Fahd Street Walk” with a length of 1400 meters and a width ranging between (25-75) meters, and includes sports equipment and play areas, in addition to the “Beach Garden Walk” with a length of 1500 meters and a width of 14 meters, and The North Corniche Walk is 3,850 meters long and 10 meters wide, and includes sessions and children's play areas.

It is noteworthy that the walkways of Jeddah governorate hosted many activities and initiatives, including the “Jeddah Moves” initiative, which seeks to promote a culture of walking and quality of life, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in promoting the concept of public health for the various segments of society among the residents of Jeddah, as the organizing committee allocated 23 walkways. Distributed in the districts of the governorate, paths have also been designated for the participation of people with disabilities, based on the promotion of public health and the consolidation of a culture of walking for all.
