I was fortunate to meet the former Chief Justice Lance Finch and his wife at an Aboriginal Lawyers Forum event in 2013. And I first heard him speak at the Indigenous Bar Association’s 2010 conference in Vancouver. He made me feel like I was entering a welcoming profession. RI

I have just heard of the passing of the Honourable Judge Lance Finch – a member of the Court of Appeal until 2013. He was a good man with a phenomenal mind and a frequent sparring partner during hearings. I will forever be a fan of his reasoned judgments. Rest well, sir.

Well put Lisa. This is very sad news indeed. I had many encounters with the decency and good humour of Lance Finch as well. One of my true favourites from life in law in B.C
