In the late 13th century, the island of Tsushima, the last defense of the Japanese, fell to the massive Mongol invasion of the east. Where the Japanese samurai did not have the ability to confront the Mongol tactics and weapons. The army led by Khotun Khan managed to destroy the island and deploy their forces in the first wave to attack and take control of the island's resources in preparation for the invasion of Japan. Overwhelmed by the pain of defeat, the loss of land and the terror of its inhabitants, warrior Jin Sakai realizes that samurai honor does not work against brutal Mongol forces. And that he would only be able to defeat this monster by striking terror and fear into his heart, so he decided to abandon his samurai armor and wear a ghost mask to regain Tsushima's freedom.
playing style
Ghost of Tsushima is a third-person open world action-adventure game set on the island of Tsushima and its diverse areas of forests, villages, mountains, and Mongol military camps. Jin's skill helps him move around in a "parkour" way to reach high places and climb ledges smoothly.
Fighting
The game has a variety of fighting styles where you can directly confront enemies or take cover and use assassinations. There are also fighting modes that you can switch between during the game. A light stance that allows you to perform quick strikes with medium damage and maneuver quickly, or a heavy stance that allows you to break enemy shields and deal them heavy damage, but limits your movement speed. There is also a parry system in combat that helps you detect the enemy's defense if you manage to deflect his blow at the last moment. And there are two modes you can choose between in combat: the samurai path, and the stealth path. Samurai: The direct method of fighting and confronting the enemy, man to man, in the manner of the samurai. In it, you can carry two swords and a bow, and use heavy shields to reduce the damage of enemy strikes.
Stealth: A stealthy way of fighting, assassinating enemies by stealth, and relying on deceiving them, using items such as sonic booms to lure them in, small blades, and smoke bombs. And you can use this method to spread panic in enemies and they become unable to fight you when confronted, so that their fate is in your hands.
You can increase your player's power by using spells you find around the island and by completing side missions.
technical orientation
Sucker Punch studio has not fully adopted the realistic approach in presenting the game world, although it looks very realistic. However, they paid more attention to presenting a magical and colorful island than to other details. In the last review of the game, we were able to see it in the amount of volumetric fog in the clouds, the interaction of sunlight with it, and the strong reflection of its rays on the grass. The diverse and dense forests and their scattered leaves in abundance with their contrasting and saturated colors showed us the world of the game in a poetic way, not realistic. The goal was not realism in presenting the game world, but a poetic picture of Japan in the late thirteenth century. And the studio supported this approach to arouse the player's curiosity to explore the island through visual hints, such as seeing a tree in a distinctive color, smoke emanating from the middle of a forest, or even animals. The studio's interest in delivering the image in more than one way is evident by adding the cinematic play feature, where you can enjoy the game by adding a black and white cinematic "filter" to simulate old samurai films.
