Bob Robertson was a friend to all and a legend in the INW. The Brett Sports family mourns his passing after a long and impactful life. Bob Rob, you will be missed dearly.
Today we remember Bob Robertson, who served the northwest for nearly 60 years as a radio play-by-play announcer for Washington State University Athletics, Tacoma Rainiers and several other sports teams in the region.
Rest in peace, Bob.
During an Indians home game in 2017, an injured bird landed in the Bob Robertson Press Box. Bob himself immediately made the bird his friend – just like he did with everyone else. The images here are a perfect example of who Bob was. RIP to a legendary broadcaster and person.

We salute an amazing person, Bob Robertson, who passed away.
Bob is a broadcasting legend that hails from Whatcom County, attending Blaine High School and got his start broadcasting as a student at WWU. He went on to call so many memorable moments across several sports, including being the longtime voice of Washington State University Football.
“Always Be A Good Sport, Be A Good Sport All Ways.”
Rest in peace, Bob.
We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of longtime Spokane Indians and WSU Cougar football broadcaster Bob Robertson. His voice was the soundtrack of summer and fall to so many in the Pacific Northwest. Our thoughts are with his family and his friends in this difficult time.
Nearly every living Coug fan grew up listening to Bob Robertson call games on radio. One of the best to ever speak into a mic. I was fortunate enough to work w him a couple times and I loved his catch phrase: “Always be a good sport, be a good sport all ways.”
RIP Bob Robertson
Bob Robertson was truly a broadcast legend. In 2009 The Seattle Times did a multi-media series called Voices of the Game on the state’s living sports broadcast legends and brought together Bob, Dave Niehaus, Kevin Calabro and Bob Rondeau for stories by Percy Allen and a videotaped Roundtable discussion on their amazing careers and craft. Amazingly, it was the first time all of them had been brought together. It was wonderful to watch them interact, and oh, the stories those men could tell. Bob and Dave were the senior members of that group and we’re treated deferentially by the others. All of them were wonderful people, but Bob seemed the most down-to-earth and virtually without ego. RIP Bob.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
