I was knee deep in two things, and then got the news about
Bruce Jay Friedman. Gotta stop for a minute. His death is significant. So talented, so much great work, and what a lovely– not lonely– guy.

Bruce Jay Friedman was a great writer (I don’t usually troll this way but where is HIS Library Of America edition?) who also fathered two significant artists. And my friend Brenda Smiley starred in one of the first productions of his play “Scuba Duba.” RiP.

Sorry for the passing of a comedy hero – Bruce Jay Friedman. In addition to his tremendous body of work (‘Splash,’ ‘Heartbreak Kid’ etc),he was a kind man who was immeasurably encouraging & supportive of me. Condolences to my friend Drew Friedman & all who loved this special man.

When I was a kid, interested in comedy and writing, a name I often heard from people in the know was Bruce Jay Friedman. Even if you are not familiar with his work, your sense of humor has probably been influenced by him. One of the greats. Rest In Peace.
