RIP P Cloyd Boyer the last of the three living Major League Boyer brothers. This makes Cloyd’s teammate Ed Mickelson, who debuted with the 1950 St. Louis Cardinals, as the last living player to have played for manager Eddie Dyer. Dyer played and managed his entire MLB career with the Cardinals, winning a WS in his rookie season as a manager.

He was kind enough to spend a day with me driving through Jasper County, pointing out his childhood homes, schools, where he and his brothers played ball, and memories of their childhood. The book wouldn’t have so many wonderful stories and insights without him. I’ll always be grateful for his kindness. Prayers for the Boyer family at this time.
