A number of young people in Tabuk transformed their private conversations into “ciphers” that included strange vocabulary far from the Arabic dictionary, to communicate with each other, amid wonder and dissatisfaction on the part of the older generation.
Young people in Tabuk believe that these vocabulary are used to understanding each other without any complexity or formality, describing it as “linguistic fashion.”
Among the vocabulary used by the youth of Tabuk among themselves are “dandan” which means be happy, “keep your brain” which means as you want, “drummers” which means a very high speed, and “Abu Rahm, Abu Nasab” which means the merciful and kindred.
Among the vocabulary also, “its origins” and symbolizes the reinforcement of a topic, and “magnetized lamb” means fat lamb.
Among the vocabulary circulating among the Tabuk youth, “Al-Fura”, which means a car tour within the city, and “Dandoun”, which means a gallant man.
Also, in their vocabulary, “knee” means a lie, “pull on it” means leave it, and “knee” is a word that symbolizes beauty.
These are some of the vocabulary of young people, which parents and those interested in the Arabic language assert, that they pose a great danger to obliterating our Arabic language, although schools celebrate every year the International Day of the Arabic Language.
