Ray Wallace Death – Obituary: Former IU Southeast Chancellor Ray Wallace passed away due to recently announced health problems. Ray’s death was confirmed by the university on Thursday.
Sad news out of @IUSoutheast, as Chancellor Ray Wallace has died. Among many good qualities, Wallace had a fantastic accent that I loved listening to. @BFLouChris interviewed him in 2017 and some of Wallace’s thoughts are in this piece:

Ray Wallace was born in Northern Ireland. He came to the United States to attend Eastern Illinois University on an athletic scholarship. After completing his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees, he earned his Doctor of Arts degree in English from Illinois State University.
RIP, Dr. Ray Wallace. A class act & a gr8 leader in our region at @IUSoutheast A son of Northern Ireland, he knew I was descended from Wallaces in Alba/Scotland 🏴 & we speculated about our special Celtic ☘️ connection. He leaves an important educational legacy. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/GQxtD2rTkC

Wallace began his tenure at IUS on July 1, 2014 and resigned in July for health reasons. Wallace held various administrative positions, which prepared him well for IU Southeast campus leadership, including as president and senior vice president.
Ray Wallace, who stepped down as chancellor of my college last month due to heath concerns, has died. Every single one of my experiences with Ray were jovial, bright, and encouraging. He will be missed dearly. pic.twitter.com/zDDrsQz2no

Chancellor Ray Wallace, 2019.
Taken with a lens he’d just returned after borrowing it from a mutual friend. One of our favorite things to talk about was our mutual love of photography and, more than anything, the Leica cameras we both had. He didn’t like this lens, but I did. pic.twitter.com/zFvrTCpZqH
