Doom Eternal, the fifth installment in the famous first-person action series Doom, and the second part of Doom, released in 2016, developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the Nintendo Switch version will be released later this year, developed by Panic Button, who is responsible for developing the 2016 part on the same platform.

The story takes place two years after the events of Doom 2016, when demonic forces control the Earth, and the Doom Slayer comes to the planet to fight them and protect the planet and the human race from extinction.

playing style

The ancient Doom Slayer warrior returns to confront the demonic forces that invaded the planet Earth from a first-person perspective, in the same way as the previous parts based on impulsive gameplay and motivating the player to clash with enemies violently to obtain shields and ammunition.

The player has access to several firearms, such as Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun, Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, BFG 9000 and Ballista. Personal combat weapons such as the chainsaw, the Crucible Blade energy sword, and the retractable arm sword can also be used. The sword allows the implementation of "Glory Kill", which is the process of ending monsters in different ways to obtain more resources. The Super Shotgun in this part is equipped with a tool called the "Meat Hook", which is a hook that allows the player to launch it at monsters and move to them. In addition to using the hook in combat, the player can use it to navigate the game world. A launcher has also been added that allows the player to launch normal and snow bombs that protect the player from blazing monsters, and a new way of moving around in the game has been added such as climbing walls, dashing quickly, and swinging on horizontal ledges.

Media professionals who had the opportunity to try the game a week ago revealed new mechanics in the game such as a difficult level of Slayer Challenges, new development resources such as Sentinel Crystals, as well as the ability to control some enemies.

More monsters

Creative Director Hugo Martin revealed that the size of the stages has become many times larger, and the number of monsters in Doom Eternal will be twice as many as in the Doom 2016 installment. New types of monsters such as the Marauder and the Doom Hunter, in addition to that monsters that appeared in previous parts such as the Pain Elemental will be reintroduced The Arachnotron and Archvile. A new system has been added to the game called “Destructible Demons”, which develops the way monsters receive damage from the player, as their bodies will be affected by injuries gradually until they are defeated. It also allows the ability to destroy specific parts of the monsters' bodies to disable their special abilities and paralyze their powerful blows.

A new life system was developed in the game instead of the traditional method, where a group of green helmets were added and distributed throughout the stages of the game, and when the player owns this helmet, at the time of his loss he returns to the game from the same place, instead of returning from the last save point as it used to happen in the previous parts.

Team play

The game will support the traditional multiplayer phase, in addition to a new phase called “invasion” or invasion, which will allow the player to join another player’s world and fight monsters together. This mode can also be disabled for people who want to complete the game on their own. However, according to the game developer's statement, the "invasion" phase will come with an update that will be released at a later time after the launch of the game.

Note: The game is suitable for ages 18 and over.
