Tributes To Dustin Sweatman

Across social media users’ timelines are statements that show respect, admiration, and gratitude towards Sweatman as people mourn the passing.

Dustin Sweatman Passes Away Singing News has learned that former lead vocalist/pianist Dustin Sweatman, age 38, passed away unexpectedly earlier today. Many Southern Gospel music fans will remember Mr. Sweatman from his days with The Dixie Melody Boys, The Mark Trammell Trio, and later, The Mark Trammell Quartet.

We lost another great man today. We had our quarrels from time to time but overall, the amount of lessons I learned from Dustin Sweatman far outshine the other. One thing I will always remember is when I was in college, I was talking to Dustin about shaving and how growing up, no one ever really taught me. Dustin called me to the office before the Christmas concerts and had gone and bought me a huge kit of various shaving items and taught me how to shave in the Renaissance office bathroom. We would chat music, God, what it meant to be a gentleman, I’d come chill in his office when I was bored and would bother him to teach me how to play steel guitar, we played TPAC together, hundreds of churches across the country, and were fraternity brothers. Although we haven’t talked in the last year or so, I’ll miss Dustin immensely. Go rest high upon that mountain brother. And Blair Sweatman if you need anything, you know where to find me! Putting a video up of the baddest rhythm section I’ve been apart of with Dustin Sweatman, Andrew Peevyhouse, Ghee Mo, and Noah Waycaster.
Our hearts are saddened to hear of the passing of one of our own, Dustin Sweatman. We are forever thankful for his service here with the Dixie Melody Boys, and our prayers go out to his sweet wife Blair, his parents Gerald and Deborah, and his brother Tim Sweatman. “Dustin was one of the most talented and likable young men, that I’ve ever had the privilege to travel and work with. He will certainly be missed.” – Ed O’Neal
