George (Bob) Pettit Obituary: It is with great sadness that the School of Molecular Sciences must inform our community that Dr. George (Bob) Pettit passed away on Tuesday September 21st. Bob was a giant in the field of synthesis of natural products for anti-cancer applications and an important member of the School and the former Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty for 55 years. Bob generated over 800 papers and nearly 70 patents in a career that brought international recognition to ASU as a place of excellence for chemistry.
Ian Gould, former director of the School of Molecular Sciences notes, “Bob achieved a level of service and dedication to ASU that few will ever equal.” Bob will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues in the School; our thoughts are now with his family.
