Girl Found Dead In Water In Coastal Victoria
A girl has drowned in Coastal Victoria after she aimlessly walked away from her family and fell off a pier.
A police search was launched immediately after a frantic Triple-0 call was made at around 1 p.m on Thursday after the child’s disappearance from Esplanade in Portarlington, 28 km east of Geelong.
The two year old girl was found face down in the water at a nearby pier.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the toddler was unconscious and could not be revived.
According to The Geelong Advertiser, Medical examiners were seen working on the girl for close to an hour.
The spokeswoman said, ‘unfortunately she died at the scene.’
