Dear Piedmont Public Schools Community,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of a heartbreaking loss to our PHS school family. Last night, Jackson Kerby passed away in a single-vehicle accident. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Jackson. Jackson was a friend to many and was loved by his teachers, coaches, and classmates.
During this time, as the school community processes the tragic news and copes with grief, we will offer counseling and bereavement support services to all our students and staff. Trained professionals will be on hand today and in the coming days to help with the needs of both students and staff.

I’m not very good with words, especially when it comes to losing someone so dear, but one of my best friends lost one of her most precious gifts last night. Please pray for my friend Jana Sanders Kerby and her sons Brice and Brent. Jackson Brave Kerby was killed in a single car accident last night while coming home from the gym. Jackson was a senior at Piedmont High School. He was an ornery, handsome, funny, hard headed, athletic young man with his whole life ahead of him. He was the light of his momma’s heart. Jackson and Jana are miracles. Jana was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after finding out she was pregnant with Jackson. She kicked cancers butt and Jackson quickly became a delight to everyone that was blessed to of known him. Jana will need lots of prayers. Please keep her at the top of your prayer lists. God gained a very special young man this morning and he will be so missed by all. I will be posting a GoFund to help Jana with expenses.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
