It is indicated that the short list includes three novels; It is the novel “The Men Who Swallowed the Sun” written by: Hamdi Abu Jalil from Egypt and translated by: Humphrey T Davies, and the novel “Hot Maroc”, written by: Yassin Adnan from Morocco and translated by: Alexander Ilenso, the novel “Sliding” written by: Muhammad Khair from Egypt and translated by: Robin Mauger, and the awards ceremony will take place on February 8, 2023.

It is noteworthy that the translator Sarah Anani was crowned with the Banipal Award for Arabic Literary Translation 2021, for translating the novel The Girl with Braided Hair, which is the English version of the novel “Passion”, by the novelist Rasha Adly. Rasha Adly wrote the novel in two time frames – 2012 and 1798 – and presented a wonderful historical account. On Napoleon's time in Egypt, providing a comprehensive account of what happens in the French campaign through the memoirs of Bonaparte's artist and writer-in-residence, Alton Germain. Meanwhile, research into the modern era of the novel reveals that the artist was in love with a beautiful Egyptian girl, whose image he immortalized in a mysterious painting now in a museum.
