Jasiah Montez Scott, 14, an 8th grader was killed in a go-kart crash in Midfield on Wednesday at about 5:16 p.m. at 9th Street and 12th Avenue.
Jasiah died after being rushed to the hospital at about 6:05 p.m. less than an hour after he was struck.
It happened that the driver of a Hyundai Elantra has struck Scott in Midfield on Wednesday 22nd of September 2021.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family with Jasiah’s burial.
Denise Scott, Montez’s mother said, “I love my son to infinity and beyond, We told each other daily that we loved each other. He always said he would take care of me.”
Jasiah’s older brother Jacorey Scott said, “Jasiah was loved by almost everybody in Birmingham, He always was in a happy mood and brought positive energy everywhere he went.”
The driver of the vehicle that struck Jasiah was cooperative, he remained at the scene after he struck the 8th grader, according to the police.
Midfield superintendent Shun Williams said in a statement, “We are heartbroken after learning about the loss of one of our students, Our deepest condolences to his family and friends as they grieve the sudden and tragic loss of his young life.”
Jasiah’s oldest brother, Jacoby Scott, had said he loved his brother so much.
Jacoby said, “He was so smart, sometimes too smart for his own good and that was what was so great about him,’’ he said. “Hearing him call my name will always be a fond memory that I will never forget.”
“I always wanted him to follow his dreams and to do what made him happy and I know he always did just that, I will miss him so much and I will never forget him,” he added.
