Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

Heartbroken is not even the right word to express how I feel right now… But also incredibly Grateful and Happy to know this woman – my acting teacher Jeanie Hackett. She truly believed in me and my talent. She was fascinated by Chekhov and Russian culture and looked outside of politics, separating two countries. Full of energy, enthusiasm, and kindness. This picture was taken last year when she was writing her play Three Sisters Part II. Despite the disease, her spirits were always up, she even put together The Cherry Orchard reading through Zoom only a month ago. True inspiration. I’m deeply saddened to not have you around @purejeanie but I know that the stars are more beautiful now because you’ve joined them.

Our hearts are with beloved Geffen family member Young Ji as we mourn the passing of his wife & Geffen alum Jeanie Hackett. A passionate & talented member of the LA theater community, Jeanie directed Long Day’s Journey Into Night in 2017.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend & longtime collaborator Jeanie Hackett. She directed our award-winning recording of Kindertransport & performed in Steel Magnolias, Trifles, & more. She was a dedicated teacher & a gifted artist. She will be greatly missed.

In a city of actors & ppl taking their money there’s few teachers who stand out as truly embracing & teaching The Work.
@JeanieHackett
was one of those teachers & her advice, coaching, & support will be sorely missed by me, & many others. Thank you for everything. RIP #fuckcancer

CONDOLENCE: Thinking of actor & director Jeanie Hackett who has been Called Back. A wonderful spirit I met during my Taper days. My heart goes out to her wonderful husband, Young Ji. I am reminded that our time on this planet is finite.
Death is the norm – life is the miracle.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Jeanie Hackett, a beloved member of the L.A. theater community and dear friend of the Circle. Among her many contributions as an actor, director and teacher, she was also instrumental in making our 50th awards gala the classy, successful event it was. We’d like to express our condolences to her family and friends. She will be very missed.

We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our former Artistic Director Jeanie Hackett. Jeanie led the company through some enormous transformations and we will be forever grateful. She founded the Antaeus Academy which helped launch the careers of some of our best artists, oversaw the Company as we began producing full and regular seasons, directed the world premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of Cousin Bette to much acclaim, and foresaw a future for the company that without her enormous tenacity we would not have achieved. We send her husband Young Ji and her family our deepest sympathies.

L.A. Theatre Works is deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and longtime collaborator Jeanie Hackett. She directed our award-winning recording of Kindertransport, as well as The Constant Wife, and performed in our Steel Magnolias, Trifles, and Once in a Lifetime. Jeanie was a dedicated teacher and a gifted artist. She will be greatly missed.

We lost Jeanie Hackett the passionate, dedicated theatre artist today. I am honored to have been her colleague and grateful to have been her friend. It’s simply heartbreaking – and hard to fathom this loss to our artists community let alone how devastating it will be for her beloved @Young Ji. In the midst of the sadness it is beautiful to read all the posts from her circle capturing Jeanie’s passion and impact. May her Muse be eternal.

Artists train to become more available, not less. We train to become more receptive, not less. We train to become more raw, not more polished. We train to take risks, not to play it safe. We train to embrace failures as gifts given from above, not to claim false control over the unknown. Our training gives us the language, the history, and the point of view to question that very training. An artistic process intrinsically questions its very purpose, its very form. photo: Michele K.
