John Otto was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He was one of the smartest, most dedicated public servants I’ve ever known — a man of principle, decency and integrity. Julie and I are saddened by his passing and our prayers are with Nancy and their entire family. #txlege

John Otto was a truly great statesman. I remember being hopelessly turned around in the Capitol after a long day and he helped reorient me while we had a delightful conversation. He surely didn’t need to, but he was just that kind. We will all miss his wisdom and grace.
