Sad to learn of Margaret Maughan’s death. First British gold medal-winning Paralympian & former National Spinal Injuries Centre patient. 52 years after winning gold in Rome, Margaret lit the London 2012 Paralympic cauldron.
Margaret Maughan, Britain’s first Paralympic gold medallist, has died aged 91.
She was paralyzed in a car accident in 1959 and took up archery as part of her rehabilitation.
