We regret to announce the passing of Miloš Říha at at age of 61.

Říha spent the 30-years as a coach in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Russia, winning Czech Extraliga Coach of the year in 1997 and KHL Coach of the Year in 2011.

KHL is saddened by the death of Milos Riha, former head coach of Spartak, Atlant, SKA, Avangard, Slovan. Our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Czech coach Milos Riha, who worked with Russian clubs Spartak Moscow, Atlant Mytishchi, SKA Saint Petersburg, and Avangard Omsk in the KHL, has sadly passed away at the age of 61.

The ice hockey world lost a leading figure today as Czech national team head coach Milos Riha shockingly passed away at age 61.

In 1983, Miloš Říha was drafted by Minnesota from the 196th position (among others, a few places ahead of Hašek, Makarov or Krupp). There must have been a lot of surprises at the union when GM Lou Nanne announced in a year that he would like to release him to the NHL, together with Oldřich Válek and Dušan Pašek.

Milos Riha, who coached SKA between May 2011 and November 2012, has sadly passed away in Prague, the Czech Republic at the age of 61.
