Officer Shimonovich was involved in an off duty motorcycle accident in Jackson, NJ in which he sustained life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Monmouth Medical Sourhern Campus where he tragically succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Nicklas Shimonovich, 23. Nicklas Shimonovich was involved in an off-duty motorcycle accident in Jackson Township on Saturday afternoon, in which he sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus were he tragically succumbed to his injuries a short time later.“At this time, the accident is under investigation by the Jackson Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.”
Officer Shimonovich was hired in March of 2018 and was assigned to the Patrol Division on the evening shift.
Officer Shimonovich is the son of Lieutenant Rob Shimonovich and Sergeant Jeanette Shimonovich.

It is with great sadness that we mourn with Lakewood Police Department the death of 23 year old Officer Nicklas Shimonovich. He was involved in an off duty motorcycle accident in Jackson Township on Saturday.
He graduated the police academy in 2018 and was assigned to the evening tour.
Shimonovich, who had badge number 392, was the son of Lakewood Police Lieutenant Rob Shimonovich and Sergeant Jeanette Shimonovich.
He was well liked by his fellow officers and was dedicated to serving his community. He will be deeply missed. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
