Pete Hamill Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Pete Hamill.
RIP Pete Hamill, a walking inspiration to so many of us. He was the journalist we all wanted to be, with the life we all wanted to live. The best advice he ever gave me: “ALWAYS check the clips.” So basic yet somehow so often forgotten. His legacy and work live on.

So sad to hear about the death of Pete Hamill. My mom went to his reading for A Drinking Life at
@BookRevueLI
in ’94, stood on line, got her book signed and of course told him about her son trying to make it as a writer. A few weeks later, I got a handwritten letter from Pete

Snow in August and North River are two beautifully written novels. As a librarian I was always urging people to read beyond the current best sellers; venture into the stacks and discover treasures. Treat yourself to the lovely creative imagination of Pete Hamill. RIP.

One of my proudest moments as a New Yorker is appearing alongside Pete Hamill in the 9/11 chapter of Ric Burns’s documentary series on the city. He made me sound like a nerdy kid from Dubuque, which I am. Thank you Pete.
