Pete Hamill Obituary – Death | Dead – Passed Away
Pete Hamill Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Pete Hamill.
My dear friend, the great Pete Hamill, passed away this morning at the age of 85. He was not just a giant of newspapers and fiction and of his city, he was kind and generous and lived a life, to use his own words, defined by “an old-fashioned thing called grace.”

The truly great Pete Hamill died this morning. Newspaperman, novelist, mentor to so many, citizens of the world. I once wrote that if the pavement of New York City could talk, it would sound like Pete Hamill. Now that city weeps.

“Oh, we grew up poor, but not impoverished,” Hamill said.
What’s the difference? “The library.”
We are saddened to hear about the death of Pete Hamill. Not only was he a legendary journalist, but a lifelong library lover, who we were proud to host at the Library last year.

“Honor Their Pain”
–Pete Hamill talking about how children of immigrants need to push themselves in order to honor the sacrifice their parents made. I try to live with this in mind every day.
Rest In Peace to one of my favorite New Yorkers.
