He was the head football coach at Fresno State when I was born. Before that, his team won a state high school championship in Arizona. Dad coached 4 Rose Bowls and 2 National Championship teams at USC, he coached at University of Illinois and Utah State and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . He received the Bronze Star in the Korean War. Phil Krueger was tough.. the reason I couldn’t get a date in high school ( that’s my story ) .. but my friends loved “Big. Phil” and he loved them. Dad was a brilliant writer and the reason I love poetry. You loved Oliver Wendell Holmes , Daddy, because you were The Last Leaf On The Tree. RIP. Such a wonderful husband, father, and Papa.
