Robert Steele Has Died: We are really sad to bring about the news of Robert Steele passing today Monday, August 30, 2021. A loving kind of person. This death was confirmed by our search team from a publication made on Facebook pouring out tributes and condolence messages to the family and friends.
Today the world grew a little darker as the burning candle of a dear friend and colleague dimmed as he crossed over from this world to the next… another noble warrior fought his final battle, and now only the memories that he leaves us each with will live on…
I thank you Robert for your friendship, your wisdom, your perspective, your arguments, our long late night or early morning talks, for appearing in one of the recent films that I produced – “a [THOUSAND] pieces”, but most of all – for the passion and integrity you brought in the pursuit of making this world a little better…
Robert David Steele just celebrated his 69th journey around the Sun, and he lead an incredible life that spanned more then four and a half decades encompassing virtually all areas of the clandestine world.
For the past two and a half decades, Robert was a huge proponent of open source intelligence, and many of the three letter agencies recoiled at his intelligence, knowledge & the effectiveness of its integrity, efficiency and scope of field.
He was also very proud of being the most published intelligence reformer in the English language as a top reviewer for non-fiction, respecting the work of other authors, and has published over 2,000 reviews.
Robert was a veteran of the CIA, a former Marine, and was the US co-founder of the US Marine Corps intelligence activity.
He was a computer scientist, a husband, a father and a friend to many… He had 18 years experience working across the US intelligence community, followed by over 25 more years in private commercial intelligence and training, and had personally trained over 7,500 intelligence officers in over 65 countries.
Robert began as a Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer. After four years on active duty, he joined and worked for the CIA for a decade before co-founding, & as the Deputy Director of the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity in 1992, despite serious opposition from the CIA, Holding such a successful open source conference that the CIA banned him from his planned second conference… That only pushed Robert further, resultant in his departure from his position at the CIA as second-ranking civilian in Marine Corps intelligence, and move into the private sector of Open Source Intelligence.
Robert David Steele was revered and recognized as the leader of the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) paradigm, and after his CIA departure, Steele forged ahead penning the handbooks on OSINT for NATO, the US Defense Intelligence Agency, and for the U.S. Special Operations Forces.
Rest easy, & rest in peace Hermano.
Godspeed, and may your journey home be smooth.
Your work will continue on, and you will not be forgotten.
See you around the fire RDS…
Thank you again for your wisdom, your battles, your tenacity, and your vision.
I leave you with some of Robert’s Quotes:
1. “In order for us to live within this finely balanced constellation of complex systems, in order for the Earth to show resilience and last for centuries into the future as an environment of human life, we have to embody three things: a respect for Earth systems and their details in balance; a commitment to discovering and sharing the truth and only the truth at all times about all things; and a commitment to doing no harm.”
2. “I am not alone in the conviction that real, lasting national security can best be obtained through complete transparency of government, business, and other facets of society, and this includes open access to all of the many available types of information.”
3. “Most terrorists are false flag terrorists, or are created by our own security services. In the United States, every single terrorist incident we have had has been a false flag, or has been an informant pushed on by the FBI. In fact, we now have citizens taking out restraining orders against FBI informants that are trying to incite terrorism. We’ve become a lunatic asylum.”
4. “Here’s the bottom line: The secret world of intelligence – at least in the United States of America – represents everything wrong with the government, the industrial era, our financial-economic system, and our ethics.”
5. “Integrity, in my view, starts with the individual human being and grows in a compounded manner from there. The citizen must be an ’intelligence minuteman.”
6. “I don’t worry about artificial intelligence. I worry about artificial stupidity.”
7. “I will say that again in a different way: the persistent unethical and ignorant emphasis on secrecy and on making decisions for partisan advantage or to pay off campaign contributors and select insiders is not sustainable. We the People have an opportunity to embrace this manifesto of Open-Source Everything and bury ‘rule of secrecy.’ This is why I am optimistic about the future.”
