The news of Selena Reyes-Hernandez’ murder has gutted me. Let me make it loud and clear: transphobic words become transphobic beliefs become transphobic violence. Selena should be alive today.

This man left the home of Selena Reyes Hernandez after she came out as trans, then returned later and shot her in the head. He then left and came BACK so he could shoot her dead body again. Digest that kind of hate for trans people for a minute.

Selena Reyes-Hernandez was 18 and when she came out to a man she was with, he took that as a reason to leave, come back to kill her, *leave again*, and come back to desecrate her body. This is the level of hate we live with. This is why I keep fighting.
