Dame Vera Lynn (Force’s Sweetheart) has died at the age of 103 at the early hours of the 18th day of June, 2020.

Dame Vera Lynn, legend and icon. Performed for troops in Burma during World War Two (one of very few to do so). Sang for people in air raid shelters, sang for Jewish children migrants (again one of very few to do so). Rest in peace you diamond.

Sad to hear of the passing of Dame Vera Lynn. I close my eyes and see my gran singing along to her wonderful wartime songs with a smile of nostalgia beaming across her face. The’d tell stories of hardship but true comradeship & fun they had during those days.

We’re incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Vera Lynn. She is an unforgettable British icon and and symbol of hope for past, present and future generations.

Just heard the sad news that national treasure Dame Vera Lynn has left us aged 103. ‘Dame V’ kindly wrote the foreword to my ‘Fighter Pilot: The Photographic Kaleidoscope’ in 2001, and wrote to me often. RIP to a wartime icon.
