A Russian woman in New York was sentenced to 21 years in prison for attempting to kill her American look-alike by poisoning her with a cheesecake, before her identity and valuables were stolen, according to the US judiciary.
Viktoria Nasyrova, 47, was convicted of attempted murder in February by a New York jury. The verdict was pronounced against her (Wednesday), according to what Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced. In August 2016, the accused went to the home of her 35-year-old victim and presented her with a cheesecake.
At that time, the two women were very similar, and they both spoke Russian, and they also shared skin color, brown hair, and many other physical features.
After eating the sweets, the woman in her 30s fell ill and passed out. The next day, one of her friends found her unconscious, with drugs scattered beside her to make it appear that she had attempted suicide, according to the Queens Public Prosecution Office. When the victim returned to her home after being treated in the hospital, she noticed that her passport and work permit had disappeared, in addition to jewelry and other valuables. Laboratory tests conducted on the cheesecake revealed that it contained the sedative, phenazepam, which has a superior effect, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Brooklyn resident Victoria Nasirova was also convicted of assault, detention of liberty and robbery.
