Investigations are active following an officer-involved shooting in Coral Gables Sunday morning.
According to Coral Gables Police Department, the incident happened early Sunday morning on the 100 block of Calabria Avenue. Officials responded on receiving possible break-in reports. Arriving police encountered a suspect trying to break into a vehicle with its doors open and hood raised.
Preliminary investigation shows the first arriving officers shot at the suspects in an attempt to protect their lives. One of the duos was pronounced dead at the scene and the second suspect was arrested without incident. An officer was injured to the lower torso, although it is not immediately known how he sustained the injuries.
Witnesses saw a U-haul truck at the scene with bullet holes on the driver’s side, and the body of the deceased subject inside.
Investigations remain active.
