27-year-old fatally shoots father 60-year-old Stephen Robert Eley and uncle 57-year-old Brian Eugene Eley in Hendersonville
27-year-old Garrett Robert Eley had been identified as the suspect in Sunday double homicide in Hendersonville.
Eley shot and killed his father, 60-year-old Stephen Robert Eley, and uncle, 57-year-old Brian Eugene Eley, according to Sheriff Griffin. Garrett is reportedly facing charges of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree kidnapping and has been booked into the Henderson County Detention Facility on no bond, pending a introductory arraignment.
According to officials reports by the departments, Garrett called 911, admitting that he shot and killed his dad and uncle and then locked his grandparents identified as Pat Baker and Robert Barker in a bathroom in the residence.
Law enforcement agencies responded Sunday at about 9:32 p.m. after Henderson County E-911 center received a report of an assault with gunshots at the 39 Beaumont Drive, Hendersonville. Arriving officer located two male victims dead from apparent gunshot wound inside the residence.
Authorities say Eley, told the deputies over the phone that his father’s body as in the garage covered with a sheet and his uncle’s body was in his uncle’s bedroom. The suspect’s grand parents Pat and Robert Barker, were found at the home locked in a bathroom Sunday night.

Eley : There are two people dead in my house.
Dispatcher : Who are these people?
Eley : One of them was my father and the other was, um, my uncle.
Dispatcher: I need this information, OK. Did you just come home and find them deceased?
Eley: Um, no.
- Eley: Um. I shot them both.
Eley told the dispatcher while talking about his grandparents that; “I escorted them into the bathroom. I used a chair and taped it just to keep them there, while I got my head sorted out, I had no intention of hurting either of them, I never did. This was between me and my dad and his brother.”
North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) are assisting in the investigation.
