Authorities say a 28-year-old Champaign man was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot injuries after being shot Thursday night at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Officials say the victim was leaving the hospital at about 6 p.m. on approaching a car in the circle drive on the east side, another vehicle nearby fired a single shot, striking him to the head and sped off.

According to Urbana police Lt. Dave Smysor, detectives believes he was the target. The man ran into the hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Carle Hospital was locked down due to the shooting. Detectives say he is not cooperating with police and they had no information on what kind of vehicle the shot came from.
