Authorities has arrested a man suspected of shooting into an occupied vehicle in the northside of Melbourne Thursday.
The man was apprehended in Melbourne’s CBD at about 1.20pm Friday after asking the public for tips regarding his whereabouts. He has been taken into custody and charges are pending, according to Armed Crime Squad detectives. Officers say a 31-year-old man was inside his vehicle on Hockley Avenue in Mickleham at about 8:00 a.m. Thursday, when the suspect pulled up pulled up close to his car and opened fire.

Officials say a woman who was with the victim at the time was uninjured in the shooting.
Preliminary investigations shows the man chased the victim’s car and crashed into the vehicle, causing it to tumble multiple times. He then jumped out of his car while it was still moving and approached the victim’s car, which landed upright. The unidentified victim drove to a business place in Transit Drive, Campbellfield. Paramedics arrived and rendered first aid and then transported him to the hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives say the two men are known to each other. The man’s car identified as a 2000s gold Mercedes Sedan E Class, with significant damage to its front is being sought for by the police.  Anyone with footage or CCTV around Hockley Avenue in Mickleham or Transit Drive in Campbellfield to come forward.
