The researcher specializing in Islamic thought, Mujahid Abd al-Mu'taali, confirms that the problem of history lies in the fact that "the science of history" is the only means that allows us to read the past, which formed our awareness and taste without our realizing it, because it imposed itself on our fathers, and so on with the fathers of our fathers and our predecessors, then impose itself on us.
Abdel-Moatali raises a question: What is history? If it is “human geography through time,” then why do we not trust modern sociology more than we trust history in its classical form? The historical mind with time, so that “society instead of people” is generated from it. Through this reason, in its first steps towards “sociology”, the question of “civilization / urbanization / city” began, and this transformation has a very deep impact among those who ask themselves a “question Politics” and in his mind “the administration of the city”, with what is in the city of trade and the different crafts and natures, and whoever asks himself “the question of politics” and in his mind the duality of the desert in “the shepherd and the parish.”
Abdel-Moatali explains that with the multiplicity of historical readings, you discover that reading the past has turned into readings that produce various historical narratives that are not preoccupied with the historical truth, as much as they are preoccupied with proving that “the truth is relative.” Since it is relative, the narrative of history for the Sufi cleric, for example, will differ from the narrative of history.
The author of “Cupping the Mind” believes that the relativity of historical truth does not mean for some people anything but the manufacture of narratives on demand, and this industry needs production workers and the efficiency of the labor force in historical production is not important, as important as flooding the historical market with the product, so the consumer only finds many variations with names There are many authors, but as a whole it does not go beyond the scope of a “narrative decided by the factory,” which some refer to with the repeated phrase: “History is written by the victor,” and sometimes reaches the imposition and drawing of its borders, forgetting that the history of “the discovery of electricity” for humanity is more important than the history of Napoleon. And that the birth of the mill and the death of the mill was, for Karl Marx, an indicator of a “global revolution” and the birth of capitalism, and for this reason, the science of modern history cared about the accounts of the defeated, as it cared about the accounts of the victors, to find that the historical truth cannot be overlooked, at all sides.
Abdel-Moatali drew attention to the overlapping of the science of history with sociology, pointing out that ignorance of the overlapping of sciences in this time is considered a kind of illiteracy, expressing his reservations about the books of “Arab pride”, which some call history. A Brief History of the Human Kind, "Yuval Noah", is one of the most important books that inherits wisdom, humility, and a human sense for those who can. The task of reading in history "is to give us a new way of perceiving the world around us."
